The First Annual Meeting between CEOP-HE and CEOP-AEGIS

The First Annual Meeting between CEOP-HE and CEOP-AEGIS will be held in Milan on June 29-30, 2009.
Dr. Gianni Tartari, Chair of the CEOP-High Elevations Working Group on behalf of Ev-K2-CNR, and Prof. Massimo Menenti (University of Strasbourg), Coordinator of CEOP-AEGIS have organized this joint meeting to present research activities carried out until now within these two relevant international programs in order to evaluate future potential interactions and collaboration.
Both programs are mainly focusing on hydro-meteorological processes study characterizing high elevation areas (CEOP-HE) and especially the Tibetan Plateau (CEOP-AEGIS).
Nowadays these processes are strongly affected by climate changes and these alterations could affect human life and ecosystems. In South East Asia in fact water resources are mainly depending from precipitation during monsoon season, thus any modification of precipitation regime due to climate variation, would have direct consequences on water availability too.
To reach these aims on the one hand CEOP-HE will pursue long-term monitoring of meteo-climate parameters in high elevation regions. Promoting also the installation of additional weather and hydrological stations, while on the other hand CEOP-AEGIS will integrate ground-based information with satellite data to determine and monitor water yield of the Plateau.
During the meeting presentations of main results achieved followed by moment of the discussion among researchers coming different countries of World are foreseen.
The First Annual Meeting between CEOP-HE and CEOP-AEGIS will be followed by CEOP-AEGIS First Year Meeting.
