Seminar at University of Tsukuba, Japan, March 2, 2009

Dr. Gianni Tartari, Chair of the CEOP-High Elevations Working Group on behalf of Ev-K2-CNR, has been invited by Prof. Kenichi Ueno to hold a seminar concerning the “Study of high altitude environments as sensors of climatic change. The interdisciplinary approach in Sagarmatha National Park, Himalayas, Nepal” at the Graduate School of Life and Environmental Science of the
University of Tsukuba
 on March 2, 2009.

 

During the talk, Ev-K2-CNR research experiences in Asia will be illustrated, with particular attention to the scientific activities and results carried out in the framework of SHARE (Stations at High Altitude for  research on the Environment) project.
Main discussion themes will include the influence global changes on mountain environments, recognized as essential ecosystems for Earth’s survival, particularly fragile and subjected to rapid modifications.  Thanks to the information collected through SHARE monitoring activities along the Himalyas, important signals of environmental changes in the field of hydrology, limnology and geomorphology, and recent finding on aerosol monitoring within UNEP-ABC Project; will be also presented.
